Previous career

I have now retired from equalities work.

An award winning policy analyst, I worked on gender equality issues for over thirty years and am held in high regard for my expertise on a range of women’s issues, and in particular, equal pay.

I started my career in retail management before taking up a leading role, first at the Equal Opportunities Commission, and then at the Equality and Human Rights Commission (the EHRC). I left the EHRC in 2011 to set up www.equalpayportal, a website aimed at equipping people to deal with equal pay and gender pay gap issues.  Equalpayportal is now run, in a personal capacity, by Professor Carol Woodhams. I was absolutely delighted when Carol asked if she could take over running the site, and I wish her every success.

I have also held corporate governance roles, having been a member of a health regulatory board and a trustee/chair for small non-profit organisations.
